Hey Loves!
I hope this week has been treating you well so far, it's nice to be back on here writing a new feature for you today.
Recently I was offered the opportunity to try out a new beauty trend called eyelash and eyebrow tinting with Paula from PG Lash Studio. Based in South East Portland, Oregon her super glam and girly studio had me feeling very at ease since it was such a fun and playful space, I mean have you seen her accent wall?! It's handpainted with black little eyes and eyelashes!
Recently Paula from PG lash studio reached out to me through an Instagram DM and offered to have me come in and try out a session with her, so I took her up on this unique offer and made an appointment.
Upon arrival, I checked my email for instructions with how to get into the secure building where her studio was located. Once you get to the elevator you just need to punch in her room number and call the studio to be buzzed in. Afterward, head up the elevator from the street level... I hopped off on the second floor where I found her room and gave a subtle "knock-knock" on her door. Almost immediately I was greeted by a nice warm smile from Paula in her black T-shirt dress. She welcomed me into her open and airy workspace (see above photos to get a glimpse of what it was like) where I sat on a little bench and then begun to have a consultation about what I was hoping to expect from the service and what she will provide. I went with the middle tier option of black lashes, permed and tinted to look as natural as possible, we also decided to go for a medium brown eyebrow color to dye my brows as well.
For the next hour to 45 minutes I laid down with my eyes closed on the table so she could work her magic. During the service, we casually chatted the whole time about whatever was on our minds and I began to learn more about Paula and her story. I learned that she is from Costa Rica, is happily married and had lived in New York prior to moving to Portland Oregon about 3-4 years ago. The service itself seems brief and was quite relaxing, I remember feeling a tingling sensation on my lashes as she applied the perming solution which I think was the longest part if I can remember correctly. The eyebrow tint was very fast and took less than 10 minutes.
*Important Note/Disclaimer*
If you ever get this service done it is crucial to keep your eyes closed the whole time and not to open them! The mild chemicals used during this service could be potentially blinding and must be washed out immediately if it does get into the eyes. For this reason amongst a few other technical FDA regulations, this service is actually illegal in California but completely legal and normal in Europe, Oregon and many other states across the United States. I thought this was an interesting fact so I thought I'd share. You do have to sign a waiver before receiving the service so just a heads up.
Would I Do It Again???
Yes, I totally would get this service again because I loved my results so much so that when I was handed a mirror to see myself after the service I just sat there astonished and said WOW, I love it! The results you see in my photos are real and my yes, those my real eyelashes. In the photos above I'm as natural as can be, without makeup and barefaced so you can really tell what a difference tinting does. If I were to wish to keep doing this service Paula recommends about once a month or every 4-5 weeks.
How Long Does It Last???
So typically Paula recommends every 4-5 weeks but I personally would say that I would only want to do this again for a special occasion like a wedding or reunion or even if I go on vacation because it requires little to no maintenance. Applying my makeup takes half the time as it used to because I've stopped using mascara or eyebrow pencil, I feel like I don't need to now...
How much Does It Cost???
Eyelash Tint: $35
Eyebrow Tint: $55
Total: $90
Total: $90
Final Opinion:
These easy self-care services are definitely something I'd recommend to anyone who wants a natural no-makeup look to feel like they are put together. I definitely think that it's convenient because I'm wearing less or little to no makeup. Having had these services done certainly has helped make me feel more confident in my own skin. Despite the fact that these services are not allowed in California which did make me weary tat first.... I'm very glad I did this and will most likely consider doing it again, I think the benefits are well worth it.
Try It For Yourself:
If you live in the Portland, Oregon area and are interested in getting some work done then mention my name Jordan Jones or Miss Honey Lavender and Paula will discount your service 20%. Now that's a great deal for a service that I already find extremely low and affordable.
